Hymnen an die Nacht / Hymns to the Night
                                                          - Novalis -

 'Blaue Blume' is a symbol of missing and wandering, and it was the trend of literature and arts in Europe. This videoinstallation is dealing with the poem ´Admiration of Nights´ by Novalis who was a german poet of Blaue Blume. By the videoinstallation, viewer could think about the feelings we have, by sympathizing with unfulfilled, endless missing and longing.
The light which comes from the video projection creates a separate space and it makes us imagine everything without any limitation.

1)In this installation, the viewer sees two projections joined at a ninety
degree angle, which have the effect of expanding the space. The
projection on the left shows feet walking very slowly from left to
right, continuously being superimposed on themselves.
When the feet reach the right edge of the left projection, the image
appears in the right side projection.  Both projections project the same
image, which appears different because of the difference in timing.
The blue color is an element I use consciously in this piece, because in
Germany blue is the color of longing and nostalgia. This piece was
conceived not only for people who feel a longing for home, but also for
those who feel a longing to go their own way.

2)This video/light installation is inspired by a German poem (from
Novalis: Hymnen an die Nacht) and a photograph of a winter landscape
that brought back memories of solitude and longing to me. The
installation creates an illusion through the use of a single video
projection in the space. The video material is originally from footage I
shot at night, but which I have manipulated to the point of abstraction
that nothing is recognizable any more - there is only color and light
left, which I then use to create the installation.  The projected image shows  a slow movement. In the space, I installated many fake, abstract
Vlieseline snowflakes which symbolize winter in the installation, and
onto which the image is projected. This piece attempts to bring together
analog (Vlieseline) with digital (the video projection).

Die Arbeiten wurden von einem deutschen Gedicht (von Novalis : Hymnen an die Nacht) inspiriert. Und auch das Foto einer Winterlandschaft, welches ich fotografierte, hatte in mir die Erinnerung an Einsamkeit und Sehnsucht hervorgebracht.

1)In der Installation sah man zwei in einer Ecke des Raumes, und somit im rechten Winkel zu einander stehende, projizierte Videos. Ich schaffte dadurch einen Bezug zum Raum.
Das linke Videobild zeigte Füße, die sich extrem langsam von links nach rechts bewegten, die durch die Überblendungen des selben Bildes sich überlagerten.
Das rechte Videobild übernahm die Abbildung des linken Bildes, wenn die Füße an die Grenze der Projektion gelangten. Die beiden Projektionen zeigten das gleiche Bild, dieses aber zeitliche versetzt.
Die Farbe blau hob ich als Element hervor, da diese Farbe in Deutschland mit Sehnsucht verbunden wird. Die Arbeit behandelte als Thema die Sehnsucht nach Heimat und die schwere seinen eigenen individuellen Weg im Leben beschreiten zu müssen.  

2)Das Videomaterial stammte von mir Nachts aufgenommenen Einstellungen. Ich gestaltete diese aber so abstrakt, dass nichts gegenständliches mehr erschien, sondern nur abstrakte Farben und Lichter, welche ich für die Gestaltung meiner Installation benutzte. Die Videoprojektion zeigte eine langsame Bewegung. Im Raum selbst installierte ich eine Menge künstlicher, sehr abstrakt gehaltener Schneeflocken aus Vlieseline.  
Die Schneeflocken standen symbolisch für die Winterzeit in meiner Installation.
Diese Arbeit versuchte visuell analoges (Vlieseline) und digitales (Videoprojektion) zu kombinieren.    

푸른꽃 (blaue Blume )은 그리움과 방랑에 상징으로 유럽의 문학 및 예술 사조로 푸른꽃의 대표인 독일의 시인 노발리스의 시(밤의 찬가)에서 영감을 받아 작가가 그리움과 외로움,방랑에 대하여 이야기한 작업들 중의 하나이다. 오랜 해외체류기간동안 작가가 경험한 그리움이라는 요소를 가지고 인간이 가지고 있는 기본적인 감정을 비디오설치작업을 통해 풀어나갔다.

1)Unendliche Sehnsucht/ Again and again비디오 설치작업버전에서
관객은 공간 안에서 양 옆에 90도로 놓여있는 두 개의 푸른색의 비디오 프로젝션을 만나게 된다. 왼쪽의 프로젝션에서 아주 천천히 오른쪽 방향으로 이동하는 발이 보여지고 그 위로 천천히 이동했던 발의 이동자취가 화면위로 겹쳐져 보여진다. 왼쪽 화면에서 발이 90도 경계에 왔을 때 오른쪽 화면으로 왼쪽의 화면을 이어 받으면서 화면은 끊임없이 계속 이어진다. 두 화면은 기본적으로 같은 화면으로서 다만 시간적 차이의 변화를 보여주고 있다.
푸른색은 독일에서는 그리움을 연상시키며 연관되어 있는  색이다. 끊임없이 걸어가는 사람과 그를 따라가는 카메라는 앞으로 나아가고는 있지만 계속 그 자리에 머물러 있음을 보여준다. 이 작업으로 작가는 그리움과 고국을 떠나 살아가는 사람들의 감정을 표현하였다.

2)이 작업은 오브제위에 비디오 프로젝션이 영사되는 비디오작업이자 빛작업이기도 하다. 이 작업은 독일의 시인 노발리스의 시를 기본으로 그리움과 외로움에 대하여 이야기하고 있다. 눈이 많이 내리던 예전에 찍은 겨울의 사진한장으로 그 기억이 시작되었다. 이 작업에서 작가는 아날로그와 디지털의 조합을 재료로 풀어나갔으며 그것은 과거와 현재, 잊혀짐과 그리움으로 상징된다. 겨울의 눈송이를 상징하는 천조각들이 전시장에 걸려있고 그 위로 영상이 영사된다. 영상을 서울에 밤거리에서 찍은 것으로 차들의 불빛이 추상적으로 마치 눈이 내리듯 위에서 아래로 떨어지는 것처럼 보여진다.
